ANALOGY LIST:
Analogy # 1: "Settling down" can be like recuperating from a serious illness.
- The thoughts of euthanasia come and go. The lucky majority recuperates and denies ever having had those thoughts.
- Some recuperate quietly; some others bring the whole house down; the former is graceful and probably more effective; the latter results in others taking ill.
- Some of those that helped you recuperate, are history as far as your life is concerned; it doesn't mean you never thanked them; it just means everyone has moved on.
Analogy # 2: "Settling down" can also be like children catching butterflies.
- Some children run all over the park in search of butterflies - not all succeed.
- Some children just have to show up at the park, and some butterfly will come and sit quietly on their shoulder.
- By the end of the day, all children do walk out with a butterfly - someone helps them out to a butterfly.
- On the same day next year, few will remember who caught how many butterflies and whose butterflies were prettier; as long as everyone graduated to the next class, everyone will be happy.
