Doll # 3: Parveen Babi (also post # 98)

Continuing on the doll series, # 3 is a doll from Junagadh, Parveen Babi. Sadly, she doesn't have enough songs that I'm very fond of.. there's just one, truly only one, that I like a lot - and it isn't the most famous of her songs. Let's start with that song..

What to watch out for? -> Her attire and poise in the song. Give it a shot imagining your favorite actress instead of Parveen Babi.. in the same attire, same setting, same everything else.. perhaps you'll know what makes her a doll.

Now to the other songs.. starting with what I think is the most popular one.. Bappi daa's Jawani Jaaneman

# 2 Jawani Jaaneman

I wish she had a better choreographer, a better costume designer, and a better make-up artist, but again, it's the 80s - so excused. I might have my reservations about Bappi daa's songs otherwise, but Bappi daa rocks in some songs, and this song is one of those. Recently, I heard a remix version of this song .. (for the record, I believe 90% of remixes are worse than the original).. and the remix of this song was, surprisingly, equally good.

Shaan is probably among her most famous movies, so let's look at the title song. Remember, these are the 80s, so be cognizant (if not respectful) of that style. This particular movie is an unusual attempt to make a James Bond style movie with a Hindi storyline and disco theme along the way. Am not recommending the movie :-).. am just sharing my opinion of the movie.

The line to watch out for: Yaar ki gali se guzarte hain shaan se...

What to watch out for? -> Her dance steps as she sings her very first line. You can skip the song after that..
