Thank You @ 100 posts!

On the occasion of my 100th post on this blog, I’d like to take a few minutes to thank everyone that has visited my blog since I first opened it up for visitors back in March 2007. I’d like to also call out and thank the following persons for your time. I respect your privacy, and hence will avoid personalizing the notes beyond calling out your towns/cities/countries etc.

BTW, all of these are based on Google Analytics software that I begun using since mid-September 2007. In case you notice discrepancies, please accept my apologies and, please do mail me and let me know.

In no particular order of importance, I’d like to thank personally:

  • “The Toronto folks”, esp. the gentleman connecting from Islington, who probably has spent more time on my blog than any other visitor -> 21 visits (since mid-Sep 2007, of course) at an average of 7 minutes per visit!

  • “The Texans” - This could be anyone from the Austin-Houston-Dallas metro areas.
    1. Between the cities of League City, Addison, Austin, McNeil, and Houston, I’ve had at least 50 visits since Sep 2007, and most importantly, at least some of you are visiting repeatedly, and that is what counts most.
    2. The McNeil folks have been especially kind – on average spending 20 minutes during each of their 6 visits.

  • “The Californians”
    1. The gentleman from Aquora Hills, CA, who spent a good hour in 2007 but hasn’t visited since.
    2. The folks from Sunnyvale have also been very kind – on average spending 22 minutes during each of their 5 visits.
    3. The gentleman from Alameda, CA who spent more than 40 minutes over a couple of visits, but hasn’t visited recently.

  • The gentleman from Petersfield, UK, who spent a good half an hour during a visit, but hasn’t visited again.
  • The gentleman from Bronx, NY, who spent roughly an hour between 2 visits.
  • The gentleman from Ankeny, Iowa, who spent 40 minutes during a visit but hasn’t visited again.
  • The gentlemen from Melbourne and Canberra who have between them, viewed at least 20 of my posts.
  • The gentleman from Male, Maldives, who spent a good half hour during a visit.
  • Those gentlemen (esp. from Chicago and Singapore) who visit my site often but probably do not find anything to sustain their interest. Please keep visiting and hopefully I’ll have something interesting for you someday.
  • The gentleman from Brookline, MA, who spent a good 40 minutes during a visit but hasn’t visited again.
  • The folks in Seattle who spent a good 30 minutes during a visit, but have not visited again.
  • The gentleman from Lucknow who visited once.
  • “The Bangaloreans” – 1 out of every 5 visitors from India is from Bangalore. Going by site statistics though, the city seems more interesting than my blog!

A general note about folks visiting the site from India – I see a lot of visits from various parts of the country – 28 states in all. The ones most interested in my blog spend barely 4 minutes before they run to the exit doors. The average folks can’t stand my site even for 30 seconds! Suggestions to sustain your interest are very welcome. If it is about broadband connectivity, I can understand.

  • “The Virginians”

My statistics are a bit skewed because of my own visits to my blog. It’s mainly folks coming in from Sterling, Herndon and Reston.

  • Finally, Doll # 1 for encouraging me to blog.

Some overall statistics:
  • After excluding/cleaning up my own visits, I get roughly 9 visits per week (i.e. something like 4 people visiting my blog, but because some of them visit 2 or more times, the total count of visits equals 9). Right, that's all! Yet, I feel more encouraged than discouraged.
I have a lot of other statistics, but I can't trust them due to the contamination with my own visits to my blog. For example, I am told I've had 460 unique visitors since Sep 2007 - but that equates to 14 unique visitors per week - far more than the 9 visits per week per my earlier calculations.
