In SRGMP 2005, my favorite was Vineet Singh who ended up ranked # 2.
In SRGMP 2007, my favorite was Amanat Ali who ended up ranked # 3.
In SRGMP 2009, my favorite is Soumen Nandi. He could rank anywhere between # 1 and # 8.
The one difference between Soumen and the other two is that, very early on (even before they entered the Top 10), both Vineet and Amanat sung songs that I uniquely associate with them. With Vineet it was "Kitna Pyaara Vaada Hai" which first identified him, and then "Tera Jaadu Chal Gaya" to nail his place. With Amanat it was "Kadhi Aa Mil Saawan" which first identified him, and then "Mora Sainya Mo Se Bole Na" to nail his place. With Soumen, I've not yet found such songs. I believe his best is yet to come.
For now, there's just one song that I am halfway down to associating uniquely with Soumen.

*I'll update this post again when I've found something about Soumen - I hope he doesn't bow out on Nov 7th. If he does, my next favorite is almost certainly one of the girls. *
