Chivas Series - Vol 4

Continuing on Chivas Series..

RULES RECAP:

There are 2 simple pre-requisites to songs listed in the "Chivas series".

Prerequisite # 1: I should have had at least one sip of Chivas Regal

Prerequisite # 2: I should have hummed or sung at least a line of the song myself, in exactly the order listed below, after Prerequisite # 1

CAUTION: Compiling songs under the influence of Chivas can cause me to forget that there is an audience I am supposed to court via my posts. Inconvenience regretted.

# 1. Yeh Dil Tum Bin

Gud ka zaika line: .. humein tum bin koi jachta nahi, hum kyar kare..

# 2. Aap aaye toh khayal-e-dil-e-naashaad aaya

# 3. Jab deep jale aana

# 4 (This is Telugu actually, I wonder how I thought of it in the middle of Hindi songs. In any case it's one of only a handful of Telugu songs I even know) Maate Mantramu

# 5 (This one is Tamil, and rather deliberately thought right after a Telugu song) Netru Illatha Matrum

================== BREAK ================

Right after song # 5 above, I couldn't help write to a Tamil friend of mine who just left my company a few weeks ago. I decided to call quits to the Chivas Series - Vol 4 and instead sent a note to my friend.

Hi (name withheld),
To celebrate the New year, I was listening to some songs and ran into some Tamil ones that I loved. I immediately thought I should just share these songs with you, perhaps to let you know you are thought of on this day AND to also let you know I do love some Tamil songs :-). I know you'll say humbly that my choice is good, I can just say it is a very old choice of songs (except one) going back to my REC Trichy days. I actually don't know the meaning of the songs, but just love them. Hope you can enjoy them in any case.

Wishing You A Happy New Year!

Will look forward to meeting you one of the days early next year.

Thought of checking your Chiva's series today :) Glad to see Maate-manthramu in the list - that one stands out.
How about a sip of margharita and this song to listen to : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUH2kxoUk-4 ?

Love all three Hindi songs.. especially #2 :) It was nice to listen to parts of the Telugu song. I've never really taken time to listen to any song in either of these languages... but I think I should.

Isn't it funny how songs remind us of people? I find it so interesting!

Loved the song Shantala. Could not somehow make time for the song and Margharita the same day, but the song was as good with a day in between.
